      The Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions leads the Province of British Columbia in efforts to improve mental well-being and reduce substance use-related harms for all citizens. The ministry has overall responsibility for the development of a coherent, accessible, and culturally safe mental health and addictions system that is effective for individuals and families across the lifespan throughout the province. The ministry aims to strengthen social supports and services that impact mental health and well-being (for example, housing, employment, income, education and childcare) by undertaking a whole-government, multi-systems approach in partnership with other ministries, service delivery partners, researchers, other levels of government, families, youth, people with lived experience and Indigenous Peoples.

      The position is responsible for providing executive support services to the Child, Youth and Mental Health Policy Division. The position supports the development of the service plan, coordinates issues management, leads divisional projects, and manages divisional communications and finances.

      Job Requirements:

      • Secondary school graduation or equivalent, plus completion of relevant post-secondary training or equivalent in a related field such as public administration; OR
      • Secondary school graduation or equivalent, plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in public administration.
      • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a senior administrative role within a large public sector organization or in an executive office including Vice President, Chief Executive Officer, Assistant Deputy Minister or Deputy Minister office.
      • Experience dealing with highly confidential and sensitive issues.
      • Experience providing verbal and written briefings to executive.


      Preference may be given to applicants:

      • With experience drafting, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents, including confidential correspondence, memos, detailed reports and presentations.
      • Who self-identify as having First Nations, Métis and/or Inuit heritage with the required combination of education and experience.

      About this Position:
      This is a full time temporary opportunity until April 18, 2025.

      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to three (3) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

      This position is excluded from union membership.

      An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
