      Job summary

      We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to support children and young people whose mental health is having an impact on their occupational function. Occupational Therapy plays an essential role in helping young people to achieve their goals and be able to successfully participate in all areas of life.

      The successful candidate will be supported to apply evidence based models of occupational therapy that focus on maintaining and restoring functional ability and occupational participation.

      The post offers excellent opportunities for further development, clinical experience and learning, both formal and informal. The successful candidate would be working closely with other Occupational Therapists on the team. Regular Clinical Supervision and Case reflection opportunities are provided. Preceptorship is provided for newly qualified Occupational Therapists.

      Occasional requirement to undertake flexible hours such as evening and weekend work to support the CAMHS provision of interventions for families and young people and offer choice for accessing support.

      Main duties of the job

      • To work alongside other Occupational Therapists and the Multi-disciplinary team in the CAMHS outpatients service, providing appropriate support to young people and their Parent/Carers.
      • To carry out the Occupational Therapy Process (information gathering, assessment, treatment planning, intervention, evaluation and discharge planning) as appropriate working with a person centred and recovery based approach.
      • To carry a caseload and undertake lead professional responsibilities for example liaison with other agencies, completing care plans, completing risk assessments.
      • Working 1:1 or in a group format providing OT input in a variety of settings as clinically indicated for example clinic, home, school
      • To work collaboratively with young people and their Parent/Carers and liaise with colleagues, education, social care and other services as appropriate.
      • To undertake Trust preceptorship if appropriate.
      • To provide support to Occupational Therapy support staff and provide student placements.
      • To complete regular supervision, mandatory training, appraisal and continuing professional development opportunities.
