- General Dental Council registration. Certificate of the Examining Board of Dental Nurses (or equivalent) And Certificate in Oral Health Promotion. (or equivalent Diploma/ Business Technology and Education Council Level 4 professional qualification) Or A Diploma or BSc in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. Award in education and Training (or equivalent Diploma / Business Technology and Education Council Level 3 A Diploma or BSc in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy.
- Relevant experience of planning and delivering oral health improvement programmes, training and events.
- Relevant experience of managing own workload and working to tight timescales.
- Relevant experience of team working.
- Good understanding of health improvement principles and practices
- Knowledge of the use of epidemiology and deprivation data to identify target groups.
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written skills.
- Knowledge of planning, managing and evaluating health improvement programmes.
- Competent in the use of IT systems and Microsoft Office for delivering training, with good keyboard skills for writing reports and recording data.
- Car Owner/driver essential for use on a daily basis

Job summary
The Oral Health Improvement Service is a commissioned service within the Dental Division of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The purpose of the Oral Health Improvement Team is to deliver evidence based, oral health interventions to reduce the inequalities in oral health, working across organisational boundaries within the Black Country and Birmingham and Solihull ICB's.
If you have experience of delivering oral health improvement programmes and enjoy working with communities to improve oral health outcomes, then joining this new team might be the job for you.
You will be expected to work within a team to contribute to the planning of oral health improvement interventions, the delivery of workforce development training, supervised toothbrushing programmes, Mouth Care Matters programmes, management of targeted toothbrushing resources and other evidence based interventions and evaluation.

Main duties of the job
To work in the Oral Health Improvement Team within the Dental Division to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate evidence based, oral health improvement programmes for professionals, service users, patients, targeted underserved and vulnerable groups based on epidemiological, demographic,cultural and oral health indicators.
To communicate effectively, persuade and influence colleagues and staff from other agencies to build capacity to embed oral health improvement into daily practice to reduce oral health inequalities.
