- A professional qualification recognised as a 'Core Profession' by BABCP such as Mental Health Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or an accredited Counselling qualification

Job summary
We are pleased to announce that an exciting Opportunity has arisen to train as a High Intensity CBT Therapist working and studying collaboratively with Birmingham Healthy Minds (BHM) NHS Talking Therapies and Birmingham University
Birmingham University will be the academic place of study for this Post Graduate Diploma in CBT and the expected mode of delivery will be remote and face to face learning. The trainee's clinical placement will be within one of Birmingham Healthy Minds NHS Talking Therapies' 4 bases located in the North, South, East and West of Birmingham. Where the candidates will develop the required clinical skills with the support of their identified supervisor.
The Closing date for applications is 27 April 2025, with informal interviews with Birmingham Healthy Minds on 8/9May 2025.
Candidates details will be forwarded to Birmingham University and they will be invited to attend an academic screening via MS Teams on 3 June 2025.
Candidates will then be invited to a joint formal interview with Birmingham University and BHM NHS Talking Therapies via MS Teams between 16 & 27 June 2025.
The course will commence Monday 29 September 2025
Main duties of the job
We are looking for motivated and committed applicants who have an existing core profession or applying via completion of knowledge, skills attitude portfolio and wish to pursue a career as a High Intensity CBT Therapist with Birmingham Healthy Minds NHS Talking Therapies service upon completion of their training.
The duration of the course is 12 months. The number of days required to meet the educational objectives and skills-based competences covered during the respective course will be confirmed at a later date to the applicants. The trainee will carry a small caseload as part of their clinical practice and due to the intensity of the course should not be undertaking any other role or training whilst undertaking this post graduate diploma. Please consult national guidance for information concerning the contracts required for this workforce.
NB* The University is unable to accept anyone on the course who does not meet the essential criteria or have previously failed or not completed this course at any other university. This is a partnership arrangement with BHM NHS Talking Therapies service and Birmingham University.
