      Job summary

      A 1-year fixed-term, part-time position has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to work with the upper GI and oncology service.

      This well-established post offers opportunities to further develop the service.

      The successful applicant will be a source of clinical expertise for Dietetic colleagues and will actively contribute to the training of student Dietitians and the supervision of junior staff.

      Main duties of the job

      As an integral part of the Upper GI Oncology Multidisciplinary Team of Specialist Nurses and Consultants there will be exciting opportunities to be part of new developments across the division. The post will provide dietetic input to acute oncology and surgical inpatients. The post holder will join a team of 17 full and part time Dietitians. The department is committed to providing a quality service, promoting evidence based practice, audit, CPD. There are opportunities for training and development and clinical supervision together with regular journal clubs and study sessions.

      Education and qualifications:

      Essential

      • Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics.
      • Health & Care Professions Council (UK) Registered Dietitian.
      • Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG Course.

      Knowledge:

      Essential

      • Knowledge of appropriate dietetic treatment of patients with upper GI, ICU and Nutrition Team patients.
      • Sound knowledge of current dietetic issues relating to oncology.
      • Appreciation of CPD.
      • Knowledge & understanding of clinical governance and risk management and relevance to dietetics.

      Desirable

      • Experience of working with upper GI cancer patients.
      • Experience of working as part on a Nutrition team providing IV nutrition for patients.

      • Post registration clinical experience. This must include substantive experience in oncology and experience of IV Nutrition support.
