Job summary

We are currently recruiting for Bank Staff Nurses to join the team at our In Patient Unit. Previous palliative care experience is not essential but a passion for providing excellent nursing care in a small team is.
You will assess individual care needs and develop appropriate care plans using a holistic approach, providing information, advice and support to patients, families and carers. You will also provide support to Nursing Support Assistants as required and maintain accurate nursing records using our patient information system.
To be considered for this role you will need to be a level one registered nurse and interested in developing your skills in a palliative care setting. Previous experience of working with terminally ill patients or in an oncology setting would be desirable but not essential. As part of a small team, you will need to be flexible and a good team player.
Shifts available - days, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job
· Responsible for assessing the individual care needs of patients and developing appropriate care plans to implement and evaluate the care using a holistic approach in accordance with Isabel Hospice working practices.
· To monitor the quality of care, promoting high standards in accordance with the policies of Isabel Hospice and the Care Quality Commission standards.
· Provide information, advice and support to patients, families and carers face to face and via the advice line and to be aware of escalation procedures.
· Understand the role of volunteers and work with them in the provision of care for patients and relatives.
· Demonstrate interpersonal skills that promote clarity, compassion, empathy, respect and trust.

Isabel Hospice has been providing free palliative care to its patients and their families since 1982, providing support and care to people in eastern Hertfordshire who are affected by life-limiting illnesses through a range of different services.
