Job Description

- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and three years minimum experience or equivalent training/experience
- 1-2 years experience working with psychiatric populations in a research setting
- 2+ years experience conducting administering structured and interview basedsemi-structured clinical psychological assessments (e.g. sciddiagnostic, symptom, and cognitive evaluations, caps, etc.)
- Strong skills in providing individual and group behavioral therapy, behavioral analysis and / or educational interventions.
- Strong ability to build rapport and create a supportive environment for patients.
- Strong knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession.
- Strong knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication. Demonstrated active listening, persuasion and counseling skills.
- Strong skills in collaborating with health care providers, PIs and community partners.
- Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and EHR systems used in behavioral health clinics / clinical departments or electronic data capture systems used in research settings
- Familiarity with advanced assessment tools like the Eating Disorder Examination (EDE) or PTSD-specific measures like the CAPS-5.
- Experience supervising junior staff on assessment protocols
- PhD or similar experience in a related field
- Candidates must hold an active California license such as LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or a similar behavioral health license
Job Summary
The incumbent will work with sensitive populations, such as mood and bipolar disorders, eating disorders, pain, PTSD, and substance use disorders. They will be expected to utilize skills as a seasoned, experienced professional to evaluate, treat, and assess patients with a range of mental health conditions. Resolve a wide range of issues, such as assessing adverse events for severity, recommending treatment/care, and utilizing clinical judgement for changes in health status.
Will also utilize research-based skills such as interviewing, clinical assessment of health status using standard and validated measures, reviewing other team members interviews for fidelity and reliability, and calculating reliability values.
Must be up to date with reserch best practices for working with sensitive populations and feel comfortable working with psychiatric populations in a research setting.

Department Description
The primary function of this position is to provide support to the psychotherapy services for the Translational Psychedelic Research Program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Psychiatry at the Nancy Friend Pritzker Building, Mission Bay, San Francisco, CA. We believe that strong relationships are central to good mental health and well-being. Our mission is to develop novel pharmacological and psychological interventions for mental illness that enable patients to strengthen their connections to other people and the world. We are developing several studies combining novel pharmacological interventions with psychotherapy to target difficult to treat psychiatric conditions including depression in bipolar affective disorder, existential distress in neurodegenerative disorders, chronic pain disorders, social deficits, and posttraumatic stress disorder.
