Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Billing Clerk to compile, process, and maintain medical records of hospital and clinic patients in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system. Classify medical and healthcare concepts, including diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment, into the healthcare industry's numerical coding system.
Essential Job Duties:
- Contact insured or other involved persons to obtain missing information.
- Process and record new insurance policies and claims.
- Review insurance policy to determine coverage.
- Enter insurance- and claims-related information into database systems.
- Maintain security.
- Prepare official health documents or records.
- Process medical billing information according to clinic policies.
- Keys payment information into EHR.
- Post medical insurance billings.
- Release information to persons or agencies according to regulations.
- Assists with all error resolutions.
- Researching and appealing denied claims.
- Assists with all delinquent claims.
- Checking eligibility and benefits verification.
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Following up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Assists with answering telephone and provides information as requested.
- Participates in educational activities.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Maintain current knowledge in area of expertise.
- Maintains Certification/CEU's (if applicable).
- Performs related work as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Be a positive role model for all health center staff.
