- Inspect, repair, and maintain assets, equipment and surrounding infrastructure to minimize adverse impact on production.
- Oversee, assist, and support maintenance jobs of support personnel.
- Perform condition monitoring, fault finding and problem solving.
- Liaise with relevant plant / mine personnel at different levels, to identify maintenance and service needs.
- Perform hands-on maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns.
- Conduct technical evaluations (testing) of equipment, ad hoc and during projects.
- Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the Foreman / Supervisor.
- Perform stand-by duties when required.
- Adhere to planned maintenance schedules.
- Ensure the optimal use of available resources, both people and equipment.
- Assume responsibility for the quality of maintenance and new installations in the functional area.
- Complete, process and update all maintenance records and related documentation.
- Ensure and maintain a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices.
- Comply with SHEC and technical requirements, in line with Plant / Mine availability targets.
- Monitor, identify and respond to defects and / or sub-standard equipment performance and other improvement opportunities.
- Boilermaker Trade Test, NQF Level 5 (Mandatory)
- Grade 12/ Standard 10/ N3, NQF Level 4 (Mandatory)
- Driver’s License (Mandatory)
- 10-15 years’ experience Applicable technical maintenance experience within a heavy industry / production / mining environment (Mandatory)
