Job Description

- Be part of a competitive team capable of issuing breaking news alerts on major stories from the Koreas and writing quick updates
- Monitor key sources of news, ranging from company filings to statements issued by North Korea’s official state media
- Work with editors and correspondents on stories that span multiple countries and regions
- Have the passion to come up with your own enterprise story ideas and willingness to develop news sources
- An interest in experimenting with emerging story formats, including visually-led, interactive and AI-assisted journalism
- At least two years of journalism experience
- The ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment
- Experience covering North Korea and South Korea’s politics, society and business for a news organisation
- Capacity to learn new skills and adapt to new tools and technology
- The personality and communication skills to work closely with colleagues with different backgrounds and expertise
- The ability to write fast and clearly in English and fluency in Korean

Breaking News Correspondent, Korea
Reuters is seeking a versatile journalist to join the Breaking News Hub in the Seoul bureau. The Hub is at the beating heart of a busy newsroom handling unpredictable breaking news from North and South Korea on politics, business and the economy.
The successful candidate will have strong news judgment and be able to work with editors and other correspondents to issue news alerts and write fast, accurate and insightful stories for a global audience.
