Job Summary
Supervises and participates in the receiving, sorting, pricing, packaging, and distributing of merchandise and make certain all items are processed in an efficient and timely manner and in compliance with established policies and procedures; ensures that all sorting activities are conducted in a manner that will provide maximum efficiency, productivity, and quality control.
Plans, schedules, assigns, and supervises the work of subordinate personnel; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides salary and hiring/firing recommendations.
Supervises and participates in the sorting of merchandise into designated categories based on type and condition of merchandise; separates damaged items to be discarded and/or sent to the bailer. Supervises and participates in the tagging, pricing, and repricing of items based on their type and condition. Supervises and participates in the loading and unloading of merchandise into carts for transporting around the warehouse and to the stores.
Monitors the productivity of all sorting personnel to ensure staff is properly allocated and assigned to tasks based on volumes to be processed; ensures compliance to warehouse policy and procedures as well as safety standards; ensures that all staff have adequate level of supplies needed to perform their job responsibilities.
Ensures that stores receive the appropriate supply of merchandise based on established policies and procedures as well as in response to any special requests. Serves as liaison to store personnel to ensure stores receive the needed merchandise. Prepares and maintains production reports in a timely and accurate manner. Makes sure that the sorting area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and that all equipment receives proper maintenance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to sort items based on established categories. Ability to successfully supervise and participate in the work of production staff.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred and six months experience sorting and pricing merchandise in a retail environment with some supervisor experience preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies frequently. Ability to push or pull heavy (50-100 lbs.) merchandise, materials, and supplies occasionally. Work constant walking, stooping, standing, bending, twisting and some climbing 75% to 100% of the work time.
Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and other similar issues.
