- Board Governance: support the JPMSE CEO in his role as CEO, both in leadership and participation at board level, both management and supervisory, as well as supporting any subcommittee engagement; this includes supporting the CEO’s role in agenda setting for the Management Board and ensuring appropriate reporting is in place for areas within the JPMSE CEO’s responsibilities on an as required basis, in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary;
- Regional Governance: support the JPMSE CEO in engagement with the regional agenda and engagement with the EMEA CEO;
- Cross-LOB Governance: engage with key stakeholders in region to ensure appropriate oversight of LOB activity, current and proposed, to ensure consistency with the adopted strategies of JPMSE;
- Schedule of responsibilities: engage with teams supporting the products and functions allocated to the JPMSE CEO, as approved by the Supervisory Board, to ensure appropriate governance and oversight arrangements are in place to support such responsibilities. This includes, for instance, resiliency, Third Party Oversight as well as engagement with external auditors;
- Culture and Conduct: support the JPMSE CEO in actively supporting and being responsible for the firm’s culture and conduct agenda being adhered to by employees of JPMSE and branches, including the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, including engagement with the firmwide culture and conduct framework;
- Communications: working with local communications team to ensure any communications from the JPMSE CEO, or relating to the entity, or affecting employees of the entity are reviewed and approved as required;
- Remuneration: support JPMSE CEO’s engagement in any considerations required of him in relation to the entity’s compliance with relevant Remuneration Codes in conjunction with the JPMSE HR team;
- Escalation: ensuring relevant regulatory issues are escalated and communicated effectively to the Supervisory Board and/or EMEA CEO;
- Regulatory engagement: in conjunction with Regulatory Management team providing assistance with addressing regulatory demands in a consistent and coherent manner. Preparing the JPMSE CEO for regular and ad hoc communications with relevant regulators. Promotion of open culture to identify/raise risks and challenge existing protocols; disseminating key takeaways from regulatory engagement to other senior managers in JPMSE, including where possible documenting engagements;
- Strategic engagement: liaising with the Global Strategy team to ensure that there is an appropriate articulation of policy and priorities for JPMSE and supporting JPMSE CEO’s responsibility for developing and maintaining the firm’s business model;
- ESG: In addition, JPMSE’s CEO oversees the ESG strategy for the entity. In this respect the role will liaise and with the EMEA ESG coordinator in meeting regulatory expectations.

JPMSE is a EU headquartered pan-European banking entity that supports the following lines of business across the J.P. Morgan firmwide franchise and has a branch network across EEA and London: Investment Banking, Wholesale Payments, Securities Services, Markets, Commercial Bank and Private Bank. The European bank facilitates the provision of J.P. Morgan global capabilities to EEA clients and provides access to EU liquidity and products for globally operating clients.
Overview
The role of Chair of the JPMSE Management Board, internally the JPMSE CEO, is a regulatory approved appointment. The JPMSE CEO is expected to oversee, at executive level, business activity carried out by, and booked into, JPMSE, including CIB (Banking, Markets, Securities Services, Payments), Wealth Management and Commercial Bank, and escalate issues to the EMEA CEO, whilst recognizing the independent collective regulatory responsibility of the Management Board as a whole for all activity in the legal entity. A schedule of responsibilities, approved by the JPMSE Supervisory Board, recognizes the attributed oversight of Management Board members for various product lines and supporting functions operational within JPMSE. Presently, the JPMSE CEO is responsible for GIB, GCB, Securities Services, Payments, ESG Strategy, Treasury, HR, Legal and Internal Audit.
