We are currently seeking to recruit a Camp Superintendent to join our highly dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations in Simberi Island in New Ireland Province. The Role Reporting to the Finance & Admin Manager, this role is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Camp Facility including the accommodation, camp maintenance laundry and janitorial services messing facility and airport transfer operations. Also ensuring the highest standard of hygiene, health and safety and services to deliver clean, safe, and comfortable accommodation, messing and related facilities to employees/guests. This is a FIFO position; the roster is a 21/14 roster. Point of Hire is restricted to Kavieng/Rabaul/Port Moresby/Lae/Mt Hagen, Buka, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta & Hoskins or Tabar group of Islands. (Locals are encouraged to apply) Key Duties and Responsibilities: Technical accountabilities * Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed. * Planning and decision making based on a 3 -12-month time horizon * Producing and implementing all operating plans and budgets * Managing Food Cost Summary * Implementing St. Barbara Safety Management Systems * Ensuring camp occupancy and man day costing records are accurate and available when required * Ensuring appropriate supervision and training is provided to all national employees including position duties, employee hygiene, food separation in preparation and storage and appropriate PPE * Ensuring the food selection includes healthy choices * Ensuring camp booking system is effective and in conjunction with rosters and flights using inflight * Maintaining a high standard of safety in all aspects of running the camp * Monitoring of all camp cost and monthly charges are passed onto SGCL finance * Reviewing all back charges and kitchen monitoring forms as well as all documentation dealing with COVID. * Reporting monthly back charges and understanding department cost codes and correct cost centres * Producing weekly and monthly reports as agreed with Finance and Administration Manager * Coach and mentor direct reports * Authorise time sheets and any expenditure for Camp staff * Managing site and camp maintenance projects * Contractor Management Systems * Managing the camp canteen and bar services * Managing VIP functions and VIP Deck services * Maintaining/Improving quality and effective supply systems * Coordinating the management and monitoring of water pump stations, Southern Cross tanks and the site waterline systems. Scheduling accountabilities * Managing effective resources use of available resources including own time, in support of delivery of the Administration and Finance /Camp Team People accountabilities * Contributing to the development of capability within the team * Contributing to building and developing and effective team * Managing outputs and development of the team Qualifications, skills, and experience required: * Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values * Ability to produce a National Police Clearance (valid within the last 3 months) for site access purposes * Qualified chef or catering /hospitality qualification * At least minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a similar role * Experience with bulk food suppliers including planning needs, ordering inventory management and production * Experience with accommodation, laundry water, sewerage, power, booking in /out and associated facilities * Be a team player and able to adapt as part of the team and lead from the front * Able to liaise and advise upper management on any camp issues * Well-developed communication and presentation skills Desirable * Working knowledge of pronto system * Previous experience in Melanesia and /working with non-western culture * Basic Melanesian (Tok Pisin) About Us This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic and motivated team of industry professionals with considerable experience in the demands and practices of the mining industry.
