      1. Position Summary:

      The Cardiovascular/STEMI Coordinator is responsible for the Houston Healthcare Emergency Cardiac Care Center designation as required by the State DPH. This includes the organization, development, management, and evaluation of the STEMI program. The primary function of this role is to maintain the ongoing performance improvement and educational initiatives related to enhancing the quality of cardiovascular care of the patient with Acute Coronary Syndrome.

      1. Responsibilities:
      • Assists in developing STEMI standards of care, policies and procedures that promote an organized, efficient professional STEMI program.
      • Provides supervision for the overall coordination and function of the STEMI program.
      • Maintains current knowledge of standards for STEMI care, including legislation and regulations that may impact the program, and attends conferences related to cardiovascular care.
      • Monitors STEMI program compliance with state and national regulations and guidelines.
      • Maintains and enters STEMI data for both HHC campuses for ECC registry
      • Acts as a liaison between the Cardiovascular Service Line and other departments that routinely provide care to STEMI patients. (EMS, ED, ICU, Cardiovascular Units, Cath Lab, Telemetry, and Cardiac Rehab).
      • Coordinates and prepares the hospital and STEMI interdisciplinary team for on-site Accreditation/Re-Accreditation visits directly related to the STEMI program.
      • Functions as a resource for the hospital, referring facilities, and other disciplines involved in the care of the STEMI patient.
      • Works collaboratively with health care providers, community groups, and schools to promote cardiovascular disease recognition and prevention.
      • Facilitates communication between Administration, Cardiovascular Service line leaders, Department leaders, physicians, and other interdisciplinary healthcare team members to enhance collaboration and problem-solving.
      • Collects and analyzes STEMI data, providing and/or presenting reports to designated committees.
      • Will facilitate/assist with future CV accreditations and pursuits.

      1. Qualifications:

        1. Education & Training:

      Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

        1. Experience:

      Three years’ experience working in a Cardiovascular service line (i.e. CVICU, CCU, Cath Lab, Chest Pain Center), two years’ experience with clinical education, community health education, and/or event planning (i.e. nursing skills fairs, unit based education, community health screenings, volunteer programs, etc.).

        1. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:

      Current licensure by the Georgia State Board of Nursing. AHA/ARC BLS certification required. AHA ACLS/ARC ALS required or obtained within nine (9) months of hire. Successful completion of an HHC Basic Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine (9) months of hire.

      Demonstrates a consistent disposition and ability to be objective. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills. Registry and/or quality data interpretation. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, independent thinker, and strong attention to detail. Ability to navigate organizations EMR and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Teaching/coaching skills. Mentoring qualities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Public speaking skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with physicians, community, and interdisciplinary team members.
