      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      Penn State Student Affairs- Career Services is seeking Career Fair & Outreach Interns.

      Duties and Responsibilities (Career Fair Intern):

      1. Assist with planning and implementation of career fairs such as:

      • Fall & Spring Career Days

      • Small Business & Start-Up Fair

      • Impact & EMS Career Fair

      • Graduate & Professional School Week

      • Education Career Day

      2. Coordinate student volunteers for Fall & Spring Career Days

      • Contact student groups.

      • Arrange and maintain a schedule of volunteers.

      • Send reminder emails to all volunteers.

      • Train student groups in volunteer responsibilities.

      • Oversee volunteer registration and placement at career fairs.

      3. Provide team member support during special events .

      4. Attend Career Services staff meetings as well as various committee and planning meetings.

      5. Perform other duties as assigned.

      Duties and Responsibilities (Outreach Interns):

      • Ability to be enthusiastic in telling students about what Career Services has to offer

      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

      • Exceptional time management and reliability

      • Willingness to try new things, and be creative

      • Demonstrated interest in advocating for underrepresented students

      • Able to dedicate roughly 10 hours per week

      • Able to make the August 15 th training.

      • Promote Penn State Career Services to undergraduate students

      • Educate your peers about CS resources and help them to achieve their career goals

      • Present brief Career Services orientations in classrooms and for student organizations and educate students about the office at tabling events around campus

      • Act as liaisons to various academic units and administrative offices on campus, particularly those that serve special student populations

      • Propose ideas from a student perspective

      • Assist in the training/hiring of future Outreach Interns

      • Communicate personal areas of interest to influence project assignments and opportunities

      • Attend regular Outreach team meetings

      • Administrative duties as assigned that assist in our outreach activities

      • Conduct professional headshots weekly

      • Conduct mock interviews and resume reviews

      • And other duties as assign.

      Appointment Tenure: Summer 2023 – Spring 2024 (other availability will be considered)

      Time requirement can vary from 20-35 hours/week, with more hours during event days (early morning to evening). Please indicate your availability (including semesters and hours/week) in your cover letter.
