      Overview

      Title: Case Aide

      Location: Children’s Services - Foster Care Program in Allentown PA

      Availability of Position: May 1st, 2025

      Schedule: Monday through Friday; Part-Time Plus (20 to 27 hours per week)

      Reporting Relationship: Corps Officers/Shelter Director

      Salary/Grade: $16.00 per hour; Grade 76, Non-Exempt

      Overview: The Case Aide is responsible for providing casework services to our guests to aid them in securing and maintaining housing, developing budget skills, utilizing community resources and providing support and encouragement as they work toward achieving their goals. providing support and encouragement as they work toward achieving their goals. This is a grant funded position and continuation is dependent on the renewal of the grant. The program's funding is provided through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

      Responsibilities

      Description of Position:

      • Assist Case Managers in working with residents on their Housing Stabilization Plans, promote activities to increase competence with activities of daily living, parenting skills and independent living skills.
      • Plan, conduct and monitor social/group recreational activities of daily living, parenting skills and independent living skills.
      • Maintain statistical accountability. Provide clear and concise individual case narratives.
      • Complete intensive intakes and service plans in a professional and timely manner.
      • Ensure face-to-face progress reports are conducted with all residents on a weekly basis (more if needed). If resident’s schedules prohibit face to face meetings, written progress reports become necessary.
      • Interview clients to define level of need: finances, employment, food, clothing, and housing.
      • Maintain routine case management meetings with the residents to address problematic issues, provide support in case management and counseling, while completing all the necessary paperwork.
      • Monitor residents’ compliance with program guidelines and write infractions if necessary.
      • Answer telephone and return messages in a timely manner.
      • Maintain accurate files on each individual resident of the program utilizing guidelines set forth by The City of Allentown, Lehigh County Children and Youth, H.U.D.,The United Way and all other licensing, accrediting, and/or supervising bodies.
      • Follow up on all appropriate referrals in a timely manner.
      • Input all documentation in a timely manner in the HMIS system.
      • Keep abreast of new information on housing, welfare, and other client-related issues.
      • Conduct regular (at least once/week) facility safety checks. Including bedroom checks.
      • Maintain all scheduled supervision and staff meetings with the Director.
      • Communicate with teammates using the logbook when appropriate.
      • Pass out daily mail and messages to residents.
      • Monitor residents at all times, tracking and documenting each resident’s whereabouts.
      • Monitor residents’ meals and maintain necessary documentation.
      • Check residents, and building security every hour (more often if the circumstances warrant) in the absence of a monitor.
      • Gather all information pertinent to monthly statistics, create monthly reports and assist the Director in compiling statistics as needed. Gather all the annual report information.
      • Maintain the confidentiality of those residents residing in programs and provide moral and social support to residents.
      • Assist residents in obtaining and maintain savings plans with private institutions.
      • Assist in sorting donations as well as cooking and clean-up when needed.
      • Assist the Director and the Case Worker in developing monthly Life Skills classes.
      • Assist in providing monthly Life Skills classes.
      • Manage “On Call” duties pertaining to resident and building issues as scheduled. Communicate all emergent concerns to the Director, as they arise.
      • Be prompt when arriving for your scheduled shift and work all scheduled shifts as indicated on schedule, unless otherwise arranged by the Director.
      • Address all concerns, problems, and or grievances with the Director as they arise.
      • Other duties as delegated by the Director of The Hospitality House.

      Qualifications

      Requirements:

      • Associate’s degree in psychology, Human Services or Social Work.
      • Two years of experience working in Human Services and/or shelter setting.
      • Ability to function as a team member.
      • Ability to achieve or maintain CPR Certification
      • Ability to diffuse crisis situations both within team settings and independently
      • Excellent communication and listening skills
      • Excellent reading and writing skills
      • Individuals must be computer literate
      • Bi-Lingual preferred
      • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
      • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
      • Must possess an understanding of and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
