- Intake interview to build rapport and develop a plan of action steps to explore careers of interest.
- Connect referral and intake information, work history, the local employment market, and initial career exploration results.
- Work with participant to choose employers where jobs of interest can be tried out and/or informational interviews can be completed.
- Identify needs and resources related to each participant's communication style, transportation, life skills, and social supports.
- Work with Employment Specialists to support participants in reaching their employment goals in the community.
- Maintains caseload size that is both programmatically and fiscally appropriate and ensures that D&E services are completed in a timely manner meeting agency expectations (average of 6-10 weeks depending on program).
- Utilizes referral information, intake information, job history, local employment market, and career exploration tools to plan activities to identify strengths and support needs related to job interests.
- Completes all agency documentation in a timely manner and maintains confidentiality according to agency guidelines.
- Writes thorough final reports with recommendations for employment next steps.
- Maintains average of 3+ new starts each month.
- Maintains minimum of 90% of participants completing assessment.
- Other duties as assigned.

- BS/BA in rehabilitation counseling, social work, psychology, or related field and experience working in social services required. Experience may be substituted for education.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Attention to detail, organization, and excellent verbal and written communication required.
- Local travel, independent transportation, and liability insurance required.

Position Overview
This position is a key member of the MERS Goodwill Career Center team, providing services from career exploration and making recommendations related to future employment all the way through securing and maintaining employment. These services are part of MERS Goodwill's Employment Services program and Supported Employment program. Staff assist individuals in building their program, designed around strengths and support needs.
Case Managers provide support for individuals with disabilities throughout the process of employment services. First steps are part of Discovery and Exploration, where case managers spend time with participants to learn about interests, abilities, and support needs to be successful in employment. This process includes trying out different jobs of interest in the community, as well as informational interviews, interest inventories, transportation planning, and more. The next steps are Job Development or Placement Services, where case managers assist with job search by networking with employers, creating resumes and doing job applications, mock interviewing, accessing resources for interview and work attire, problem solving any barriers, and getting started at the new job. Most importantly, case managers are always encouraging participants through the process!Responsibilities
