      The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a seasonal Caser Operator I at our Toma-Tek facility in Firebaugh, CA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

      Summary: Responsible for operation and troubleshooting of case making, case sealer, safe line, stretch wrapper and palletizing equipment. Ensures integrity of boxes and quality of stacked pallets. Monitor fiber, glue, slip sheets, dust cover sheets and corner boards to produce square clean pallets, ready for stretch wrapping. Program codes into and monitor Marsh case printer to ensure accurate, clean, clear code is being printed. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, union position, supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Ensures the integrity of the box quality, packing arrangement and printed information is maintained.
      • Performs hourly checks to Safeline metal detector (CCP) and ensures its’ proper operation and monitors and verifies on an hourly basis, case code is correct according to the MSP.
      • Ensures that the proper fiber is being used, correct stack pattern is set and print codes on the Marsh printer correspond according to the Manufacturing Standard Practice (MSP).
      • Ensures corner boards are being placed on every pallet before it is wrapped, when applicable and case counts are documented and communicated to Filler Operator on an hourly basis.
      • Accurately completes and turns in all paperwork to the Supervisor at the end of the shift.

      Requirements:

      • Requires a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), or at least one-year relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
      • Requires the ability to read, write, and speak English to perform the essential duties.
      • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and a good attendance record.
      • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.

      Compensation:

      The hourly union wage is $15.50.
