What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review patient medical records and assign appropriate codes for billing and insurance claims
- Perform quality assessments of medical record documentation to ensure compliance with coding standards
- Collaborate with the AR department and provide feedback on coding-related issues
- Maintain knowledge of current coding regulations and apply them effectively
- Resolve documentation deficiencies through communication with healthcare providers

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 3-5 years of medical coding experience
- Credentialing through AHIMA and/or AAPC required
- Proficiency in coding classification standards, including ICD-10 and HCPCS/CPT
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate professionally

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as a CPC, CEMC, CPMA, CRC, CPB, CCS-P, or RHIT
- Experience in Interventional Radiology coding
- Familiarity with Provider Based and Rural Health coding
- Strong technical skills with medical software systems (PM/EHR)
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and client specialties
