What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review patient medical records and translate information into appropriate codes for insurance claims
- Ensure accurate coding and compliance with government and insurance regulations
- Perform quality assessments of medical records and resolve documentation deficiencies
- Collaborate with the AR department and other staff on coding-related issues
- Maintain knowledge of current coding regulations and apply them effectively

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of medical coding experience
- Credentialing through AHIMA and/or AAPC required
- Strong understanding of physician documentation requirements in a clinic setting
- Proficiency in medical software systems and basic Microsoft software

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in cardiology and provider-based/rural health coding
- Additional certifications such as CPC, CEMC, CPMA, CRC, CPB, CCS-P, or RHIT
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service skills and professional written communication
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and client specialties
