What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Ensure appropriate clinical documentation is captured to meet national registry guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Review patient diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes across the care continuum as the Cancer Registry content expert
- Complete ongoing longitudinal follow-up to meet national regulatory requirements
- Alert leadership of potential discrepancies in documentation or care variation
- Participate in continuing education to stay updated on changes in the cancer industry regarding coding and compliance

What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 1+ years’ experience
- Certified Oncology Data Specialist
- Minimum of 1 year working as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) and an Associate degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management, or
- Minimum of 3 years of cancer registry abstraction experience
- Strong understanding of complex medical conditions and surgical procedures

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Health Information Management
- 2 years of abstracting experience in a Commission on Cancer (CoC) approved Cancer Program
- Experience working in a quaternary care hospital system
- Experience working in a multi-campus healthcare system
