What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Code and abstract diagnosis and procedure information from patient medical records according to industry coding conventions and guidelines
- Utilize coding software to verify and assign appropriate codes and ensure data accuracy
- Maintain a 95% data quality coding accuracy rate through regular quality reviews
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure proper information flow and coding processes
- Stay updated with coding regulations and participate in department meetings and training sessions

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 1 year of demonstrated ICD-10-CM inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience in an acute care teaching setting
- Educational credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CPC from an accredited Health Information Technology or Management program
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to obtain AHIMA/AAPC credential within three years of hire if not already credentialed
- Previous experience with EPIC health information systems and 3M encoding system preferred

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- More than 3 years of experience in the coding field without formal coding credentials
- Familiarity with clinical documentation improvement programs
- Experience in a healthcare setting that emphasizes patient-centered care
- Additional certifications in health information management or related fields
