      CHARGEMASTER COORDINATOR JOB SUMMARY

      A Chargemaster Coordinator is responsible for

      • Oversight and maintenance of organizational chargemaster (s), including pricing structure, to ensure compliance with billing and reimbursement requirements and appropriate maximization of reimbursement
      • Facilitating accurate and consistent charge capture processes; and serving as an educational resource for charge-related processes.

      CHARGEMASTER COORDINATOR JOB SPECIFICATIONS

      • Education and/or experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in business, health administration, nursing, or related field required.
        • Minimum of two (2) years chargemaster maintenance experience in an acute hospital environment
        • or five (5) years health care billing and reimbursement or related revenue cycle;
        • health care operations; and/or clinical experience required.
        • CPT coding certification preferred.
        • Experience with Altera Paragon, NextGen, FinThrive CDM Master, Experian Patient Estimates, or similar systems a plus.
      • Knowledge: Must have knowledge of
        • Health care pricing, charging, billing, and reimbursement processes.
        • Requires expertise in CPT/HCPCS, and revenue code assignments as well as familiarity with compliance regulations impacting the chargemaster and current pricing concepts and strategies.
        • Must have working knowledge of medical terminology and clinical operations.
      • Skills:
        • Requires detail orientation and strong mathematical and analytical skills, including the ability to organize/assess information and make recommendations based on it for operational and budgeting purposes.
        • Requires excellent computer skills in various applications, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
        • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
      • Abilities:
        • Requires ability to analyze and resolve problems that affect charging processes and reimbursement, including ability to conduct effective audits of key processes.
        • Must be able to research, interpret, apply, and communicate complex regulations and information obtained from various state, Federal, and private payor sources that impact charging and reimbursement.
        • Must be able to conduct formal educational programs for a variety of audiences.
        • Must be able to effectively work independently and in a team environment (often in a leadership role) with diverse groups.
        • Must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and limited direct supervision.
        • Ability to work well under stressful conditions is necessary.
