Description
Job Summary/Basic Function: Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, Maintenance and Utilities, this position provides leadership and operation of the central heating plant to ensure a constant, reliable volume of steam to meet the campus needs.
Job Responsibilities:
The Chief Boiler Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the central heating plant to ensure a constant and reliable volume of steam. This includes performing routine maintenance and inspections of boiler systems and related equipment, monitoring boiler operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations, and troubleshooting and resolving issues related to boiler operations. The role also involves maintaining accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance, and repairs, supervising and training boiler operators and other staff as needed, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards. Additionally, the Chief Boiler Operator coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient operation of the heating plant, implements and enforces safety protocols and procedures, manages inventory of boiler-related supplies and equipment, and responds to emergency situations to perform necessary repairs.
Minimum Qualifications: The position requires a State of Minnesota Chief Engineer license (Chief B), 5 years of related work experience, a valid Driver's License, and strong computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will have knowledge and experience with HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance and repair, as well as strong and proven leadership experience.

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/yr.

The final salary will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and alignment with the position’s requirements. Other considerations may include internal equity and market conditions.
