- To assess and triage referrals from GPs of CYP with mental health difficulties who do not meet the threshold for CAMHS.
- To refer on/signpost to appropriate services including CAMHS, Community, School, Social Prescriber
- Short term work with CYP/families
- Mental health education for parents/CYP

- To lead the service to provide a psychologically informed service where a behavioural approach to care provision is embedded and communication is provided to the patient, families, carers and other service providers supporting the approach.
- To provide assessment, formulation, diagnosis (for appropriately trained clinicians) and interventions which may include the prescribing of medications.
- To work positively and collaboratively as an integral part of the Children & Young Peoples Mental Health Integrated Neighbourhood Team and effectively liaise with multi-agency colleagues, patients and their families.
- To provide clinical oversight, monitoring and effective caseload management processes for team.
- To support delivery and oversight of the INTs key performance indicators.
- To constantly seek to improve the development and quality of clinical practice provided to this client group, referring to the most current policy and research to inform practice.
- To work in a collaborative way with other service providers including but not limited to; schools, local councils, the ICB and SEOxHA practices.
- To provide mental health education, advice and training to clinical staff and students.
- To ensure and support colleagues to meet quality standards for trust peer reviews, CQC inspections, PLAN accreditation and support development of accredited services
- To lead the clinical management, working clinically and facilitating others within the team to provide appropriate assessment and intervention within appropriate timescales.
- To effectively communicate complex, sensitive and/or contentious information to patients, their family and/or carers.
- Demonstrates advanced level of ability in evidence based mental health care provision and risk assessment of younger people with mental health problems, involving assessing, planning and evaluating care in collaboration with others.
- Operating independently where required in making complex clinical judgements, evaluating alternative courses of action and managing and advising on complex clinical issues regarding the treatment and care of patients whilst understanding when to seek appropriate advice and when to escalate concerns.
- Negotiating the timely transfer of patients to other services.
- To work as a member of the MDT in assessing and planning care and responding to changes in service users health.
- To act in a manner that respects the customs, individuality, values, sexuality and spiritual beliefs of an individual, actively supporting the individual to fulfil these.
- To create, develop and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff and with other professionals and agencies to enhance effective team working.
- To accurately record all contacts with service users in EMIS in line with record keeping policy.
- To ensure effective communication with clients, relatives and carers, visitors, staff and others.
- To ensure that all communication takes place in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
- To be skilled in communicating with distressed patients in highly emotive atmospheres where individuals may present as distressed (verbally and at times physically).
- To develop measures to improve communications where barriers exist.
- To ensure that consent to intervention or assessment is sought in a manner that is meaningful to the service user.
- To communicate with people in a manner that is consistent with their level of understanding, culture and background.
- To be responsible for managing incident reporting and understanding when and how to access corporate support services in regard to this if required. And to facilitate the team to understand when and how to report incidents and safeguarding concerns.
- To role model high quality care, assessment and management for children and young people who require assessment and potentially diagnosis where there is complexity or for those who require specialist mental health care assessment and management.
- To work with the CYP Social Prescriber, CAMHS, whole team and other stakeholders to develop effective interventions, care pathways and processes for children and young people with mental health problems.
- To work and develop effective team working and collaborative practice with primary care, social workers, schools, council and any other involved parties

- The post holder of this role may experience verbal distress from young people in crisis. Due to the nature of this role this is unpredictable and will require increased mental effort from the post holder.

- Exposure to, understanding of and competence in IT facilities and systems associated with service users.

- Previous Experience of Liaison Psychiatry work, in a service which spans the adult and or older age group.
- Experience of working in inpatient or community OPMH teams at Band 6 level.
- Experience in acute care (crisis/AMHT) at Band 6 level.
- Experience of delivering and developing undergraduate or postgraduate education.
- Experience of delivering of providing small and large group teaching sessions.
- Evidence of experience as a supervisor, including a clear understanding and application of an effective caseload management system.
- Demonstrate planning skills, e.g. in terms of resource allocation and funding.
- Flexible in approach and can respond to competing clinical and leadership demands.
- Able to supervise and direct a multi-disciplinary team and support staff as appropriate.
- Able to prioritise workload and manage capacity according to demand.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to communicate both in writing and orally, complex matters clearly and concisely, using appropriate methods to a wide spectrum of people including staff and service users.

Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a CYP Mental Health Practitioner join our new Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) consisting of various stakeholders coming together to improve the health & wellbeing of children and young people with mental health needs or neurodiversity.
Working alongside a CYP Social Prescribing Link Worker you will assess and support our younger patients and their families as appropriate who are waiting for a CAMHS assessment or have been recommended an alternative pathway by CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will supervise the CYP Social Prescriber and together you will identify the best support that is available to meet children and young people with their mental health needs or neurodiversity. This may be signposting and helping navigate the existing services, it may be providing short term intervention with the patient and/or their family.
