The Provo City Engineering Division is recruiting for an intern position. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a city engineering division.

Application Review Process: Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on March 21, 2024. Position may be closed at this time if sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed below to be eligible for consideration.

Pay Rate: $12.00 - $20.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

Essential Duties:

• As directed, work on projects in the Engineering Division.

• Conduct traffic counts.

• Perform warrant studies for traffic control devices.

• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design roadway infrastructure.

• Assist survey crew as needed.

• Assist other department employees as needed and perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bona fide student in an undergraduate or graduate program in Civil Engineering or closely related field.

• Valid, lawful driver license.

Schedule/Duration : 15-25 hours/week during the school year; up to 40 hours/week during the summer, Monday through Thursday, flexible between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Physical/Environmental Factors : This work requires the incumbent to work for extended periods on a computer. It may also require exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances.

Pre-Employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of 6 months.
