      Temporary position for 17 months

      As a total and permanent Disability claims technician, you help process disability insurance claims and help manage disabilities for claims determined to be "total and permanent" according to established criteria. You contact insureds who are off work and regularly update their medical condition. You guide them through the complex process of applying for various government benefits (CPP, QPP, etc.), and you make calculations and explain them when adjusting benefits if approved by one of these organizations. Your work is crucial to claims management, as insureds will be in contact with you for several years. This position involves working on a team, so you must be highly autonomous and able to assess and prioritize your tasks. More specifically, you'll be required to:

      • Process claims in accordance with the contractual clauses of the insurance policy. Escalate more complex claims to another processing level, if applicable

      • Establish the benefit amount, determine the payable period (for PTD: integration), proceed with payment and carry out the necessary follow-up (for example, close the file or continue making payments)

      • Assist insureds with the CPP or QPP application process

      • Calculate and be able to explain deductions and negotiate reimbursements if necessary

      • Speak with and write to partners, professionals and clients to obtain and provide information, justifications and interpretations

      • Communicate with claims management offices across the country

      What you bring to the table

      • General college diploma in a related field

      • A minimum of one year of relevant experience

      • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

      • K nowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec

      • Intermediate knowledge of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

      • Medical knowledge
