      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Perform thorough review of medical records for identification of relevant clinical diagnoses and procedures
      - Assign appropriate ICD-CM principal and secondary diagnosis codes
      - Sequence diagnoses codes and primary procedure codes for accurate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment
      - Identify opportunities for additional provider documentation to ensure accurate coding
      - Communicate effectively with clinical staff and other hospital departments regarding coding practices

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Minimum five (5) years of experience coding inpatient facility (HB) at a Level 1 Trauma facility
      - Current CCS, RHIT, or RHIA Certification with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
      - Current CDIP or CCDS Certification with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or The Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS)
      - Mastery level knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and coding conventions
      - Ability to sustain acceptable productivity rates as defined by Coding Leadership

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Bachelor's or Associate's degree with RHIA or RHIT
      - Experience coding at an academic medical center
      - Familiarity with healthcare IT systems, preferably Epic and 3M 360 R2
      - Proficient in Microsoft Office
      - Ability to effectively mentor staff
