What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform clinical chart reviews to ensure accurate documentation
- Analyze clinical data and identify gaps and inconsistencies
- Communicate with healthcare team members to clarify information and provide additional documentation
- Collaborate with team members to promote accuracy and consistency
- Conduct educational sessions for clinicians and medical coders
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Master's Degree with a current active clinical license (APRN)
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure without restriction in state of residence
- CRC certification
- 5+ years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- 3+ years of clinical documentation improvement experience or coding experience
- 1+ year of experience working with advanced practice providers and clinical staff
- Solid clinical background in evidence-based medicine and chronic disease management
- Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and documentation requirements
- Technical experience using EMR systems
- Proficiency in MS applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Webex)
- Ability to travel for on-site meetings as needed
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2+ years of experience providing risk adjustment education or management
- 4+ years of experience developing educational content for clinical professionals
- Master's Degree in Business, Education, Instructional design, Nursing, or related fields
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Education preferred
- Coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA professional coding association
- Expert experience working with Medicare Advantage programs and CMS Risk Adjustment model
- Previous work experience in clinical documentation review or a clinical quality program
- Experience developing and delivering clinical education and training
