What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct thorough health record reviews to ensure accurate provider documentation of clinical conditions and procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate high-quality clinical documentation and compliance with regulations
- Utilize effective queries and critical-thinking skills to identify opportunities for documentation improvement
- Maintain accurate records of review findings and data elements in CDI software and other mechanisms
- Communicate effectively with providers and escalate concerns regarding documentation and coding discrepancies

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related medical field
- Current RN, MD, or RHIA certification required
- Minimum of two (2) years of direct patient care in an acute care setting or three (3) years of inpatient coding experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technology/software
- Strong understanding of clinical knowledge, disease processes, and treatment management

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- CCDS or CDIP certification preferred; must obtain within three years from the date of hire
- Coding certification (CCS, CIC, or CPC) preferred
- Previous experience in clinical documentation improvement (CDI) preferred
- Familiarity with 3M 360 Encompass software preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with providers
