What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage the Continuous Documentation Improvement Project, collaborating with various department staff
- Educate physicians, residents, and mid-levels on clinical documentation improvement processes
- Analyze medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation
- Generate physician queries to enhance the quality of documentation
- Support Medical Coders and revenue cycle teams in coding and processing inpatient claims

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must have RN or MD certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist, preferably in an Academic Medical Center
- Familiarity with coding as it relates to documentation
- Experience working in an EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass (CAC) software environment
- Ability to communicate medical necessity and appropriateness effectively to physicians and payers

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Previous experience in a similar role within a healthcare setting
- Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations regarding utilization review and discharge planning
- Skills in abstracting and interpreting medical information from patient records
- Proficiency in computer word processing and database programs for report writing and analysis
