What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Manage and oversee the Continuous Documentation Improvement Project, ensuring effective clinical documentation practices
- Act as a liaison with department staff, educating physicians and other healthcare professionals on documentation improvement
- Collaborate with Medical Coding and Case Management teams to analyze and enhance medical record documentation
- Generate physician queries to improve documentation quality and accuracy
- Provide support to Medical Coders and revenue cycle teams in coding and processing inpatient claims

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must possess RN or MD certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist, preferably in an Academic Medical Center
- Proficiency in discussing medical diagnostic topics and familiarity with coding related to documentation
- Experience working in an EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass (CAC) software environment
- Strong communication skills to convey medical necessity and documentation needs to various stakeholders

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in utilizing laws, rules, and regulations regarding utilization review and discharge planning for government programs
- Skills in abstracting and interpreting medical information from patient records
- Knowledge of computer word processing and database programs for report writing and graphical analysis
