What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review clinical documentation during patient admissions to identify opportunities for improvement and communicate findings to physicians
- Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure accurate clinical documentation is recorded in patient charts
- Perform concurrent and retrospective medical record reviews to enhance documentation quality and compliance
- Submit electronic queries to clinicians to ensure complete and accurate documentation for coding purposes
- Maintain required metrics and participate in departmental meetings and compliance initiatives

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing or a health-related field
- Certification as a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) or equivalent
- Minimum of one year working in an acute care setting as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
- At least five years of healthcare experience
- Strong written communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare providers

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience as a CDI/Coding auditor
- Background in inpatient case management or utilization review
- Knowledge of medical surgical and critical care practices
- Familiarity with EPIC Electronic Medical Record and CDI Software
- CCDS and/or CDIP certification
