      Job summary

      We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated newly qualified or early career pharmacist for this development and progression role.

      You will join us as a band 6 or 7 clinical pharmacist, depending on experience, and will be supported to develop. Band 6 pharmacists will be guaranteed progression to band 7 on successful completion of CPPE newly qualified pharmacist pathway.

      We will support you to achieve your further career aspirations with ongoing training and development including Non-Medical Prescribing qualification and clinical diploma, and opportunities to develop your portfolio demonstrating readiness for advanced clinical practice and Band 8a roles.

      Based at Crawley Hospital the post holder will travel regularly to sites within a defined geography for service delivery and rotations. The post holder may occasionally need to travel to other SCFT sites across Sussex.

      The role will be split with 3 days a week providing clinical services to community hospital inpatient bedded units (intermediate care units) and 2 days each week on individualised rotation, including for example virtual wards, medicines optimisation in care homes (MOCH), Urgent Community Response and Childrens Services. .

      Working hours are usually Monday to Friday business hours, but staff may be required to work Saturdays, Sundays and bank holiday rota and undertake on-call duties.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will be an integral member of the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) Medicines Management Team providing clinical pharmacy and medicines management input to community health services.

      The main duties are to:

      • Provide clinical pharmacy and medicines management services to community hospital inpatient bedded units (intermediate care units) within the Sussex Community NHS Trust.
      • Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients, carers, medical, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals in accordance with legal and professional requirements and standards.
      • Participate in rotations across a variety of SCFT pharmacy services. Rotation will be individualised including for example Virtual Wards, Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH), Urgent Community Response and Children's Services.
      • Undertake CPPE newly qualified pharmacist pathway, progressing to band 7 on successful completion of this.
      • Provide training and education to other health and social care staff.
      • The post holder will be expected to travel regularly to sites within a defined geography for service delivery and rotations. This may include patient's homes/care homes. Some home working can be accommodated. The post holder may occasionally need to travel to other SCFT sites across Sussex.
