What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and analyze medical records for inpatient, outpatient, and professional services to assign diagnoses, procedures, and charge codes
- Collaborate with clinical co-workers on facility and professional coding and charging responsibilities
- Adhere to the Standards of Ethical Coding set by the American Health Information Management Association
- Follow official coding guidelines consistently
- Ensure accuracy in coding practices to support proper billing and compliance

What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 6 years of coding and/or charging experience in ICD-10-CM/PCS and/or HCPCS/CPT coding in an acute care or professional service setting
- A.S. from an accredited Nursing or Health Information Management program or equivalent clinical experience
- One of the coding certifications (e.g., CCS, CPC) must be obtained within 6 months of employment or transfer
- Experience in inpatient/outpatient acute care hospital setting preferred (8 or more years)
- Strong understanding of clinical coding guidelines and regulations

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- B.S. from an accredited Nursing or Health Information Management program
- Additional certifications such as Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or Certified Radiology Cardiovascular Coding (CIRCC)
- Experience in consulting roles related to coding and billing
- Familiarity with advanced coding software and technology
- A strong sense of advocacy and commitment to compassionate care
