What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review patient medical records and translate information into codes for insurance claims processing
- Ensure coding and documentation accurately reflect outpatient visits and comply with legal standards
- Provide technical guidance to medical staff on coding issues and incomplete records
- Audit clinical documentation to validate services rendered for reimbursement
- Research and recommend actions to correct discrepancies in coding practices
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Medical coding experience of 0-1 year preferred
- Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers for coding professional fee services
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and apply relevant policies and regulations
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certified Professional Coder from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
