    • Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with required endorsement: Cognitive Impairment (SA), covering grades K-12 and Elementary K-5 all subjects (K-8 all self-contained classroom).
    • Possess an endorsement to work with students who have mental impairments pursuant to Rules 340.1781, 340.1782, and 340.1786 of the Revised Administrative Rules for Special Education.
    • The teacher must be proficient and knowledgeable in his/her area of teaching and must be able to provide a flexible, stable and pleasant teaching environment while maintaining appropriate classroom discipline.
    • Experience with co-teaching and total inclusion of students with cognitive impairment.
    • The teacher should be able to use evaluative classroom procedures to improve instruction and to become aware of the physical, social, emotional, and mental developments of the student.
    • Teacher must be able to develop instruction based on the Grade Level Content Expectations and Extended GLCE's with the ability to modify and accommodate as needed.
    • Must have appropriate experience with students presenting emotional and behavioral disabilities.
    • The teacher should be skilled at facilitating the academic and social integration of students with disabilities into the school community, and should maintain positive contacts in the home-school-community relationship.
    • Must have experience coordinating activities and schedule for classroom paraprofessional.
    • Must be willing to teach large groups of students in general education.
    • Must be willing to work with general education teachers to plan, implement and organize lessons together.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

      SALARY RANGE: PCEA Salary Schedule
