      FULL TIME POSITION REQUIRES AVAILABILITY TO WORK ON SATURDAYS AND ALSO UNTIL 5:30 ON FRIDAYS, TYPICALLY ON A ROTATING SCHEDULE.

      Position: Collections Representative I

      Department: Collections

      Summary

      Responsible for collecting past due loans, credit card accounts & negative shares in a professional, timely, and accurate manner. Assists in delinquency by using methods such as phone calls and collection letters.

      Supervisory Responsibilities

      None

      Essential Functions

      • Works Temenos delinquency queues in a timely manner.
      • Accepts requests for payment by phone on delinquent or negative accounts.
      • Analyzes accounts to determine the best collection action.
      • Set up repayment plans according to ability to pay.
      • Skip traces members who cannot be located.
      • Submits accounts for repossession review.
      • Offsets payments on delinquent accounts and/or as requested by member.
      • Collects past due credit card, delinquent loan and negative share accounts.
      • Resolves past due accounts with members in a professional manner.
      • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, to provide quality service to members as well as internal team members.
      • Follows credit union policies and procedures to properly identify members (including account ownership) for whom they are conducting transactions or providing account information.
      • Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
      • Utilizes The Member Advantage AIDINC system to identify potential member (internal or external) service needs which can be met through the sale of credit union products and services, or adherence to the department’s policy and procedures.
      • Identify potential fraud and execute the necessary reporting actions.
      • Effectively handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls.
      • Monitors negative share reports daily and provides file maintenance of accounts accordingly.
      • Assist employees with inquiries regarding negative share accounts.
      • Performs required file maintenance for manual charge off of negative share accounts, share account closures and revoking overdraft privilege.

      Other Duties and Responsibilities

      • Performs other duties as required by management.

      Education

      • A high school education or GED.

      Experience and Other Requirements

      • At least one year of collections experience required.
      • Accuracy and attention to detail required.
      • Must be self-motivated and goal oriented.
      • Experience with Temenos and Symitar preferred.
      • Experience with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion is preferred.
      • Must possess an outgoing personality with a helpful attitude.
      • Must maintain confidentiality and dependability at all times.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
      • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure and prioritize daily tasks.
      • Good typing/keyboarding skills required.
      • Must possess the ability to work individually and as a collections team.
      • Strong analytical, time management and organization skills are required.

      Interpersonal Skills

      • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

      Computer Skills

      • Extensive use of personal PC required.
      • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, as well as use of internet and e-mail.
      • Experience with office equipment such as calculators, fax machines and copiers required.

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Training

      • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act CUNA exam 45 minutes TR1214.
      • Communicating effectively with difficult People CUNA exam 35 minutes A1003E.
      • Telephone Communication Skills CUNA exam 30 minutes A1003D
