What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct online tutoring sessions via Upswing's virtual classroom
- Utilize the Socratic method to foster independence and critical thinking skills in students
- Use video, audio, chatbox, and whiteboard features during sessions
- Focus on U.S. history, world history, and religion topics
- Provide a minimum of 2-5 hours of tutoring per week during fall and spring semesters
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Strong knowledge of U.S. history, world history, and religion through an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or professional experience
- Reliable high-speed internet, quiet environment, and laptop/desktop with camera and microphone functionality
- Excellent grades in undergraduate or graduate school
- Passion for teaching and helping others reach their goals
- Responsive to session requests and excellent verbal and written communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Background in teaching methodology, instruction, or tutoring experience at the college level
- 0-2 years of experience tutoring in a math or learning lab, or writing center
