- Implementing the use of global color matching tools, techniques, software and mathematical models for color calculation and adjustments.
- Ensuring cost optimization in pigmentations through the use of the global CPL (Color Pigment Library) by the design of experiments, product testing, processes and substitution of materials.
- Documenting of tests in accordance with global & internal process & specifications.
- Technically advising investigations through problem-solving methodology .hat arise during styling, matching & Tinting in order to avoid their recurrence.
- Technically coordinating the actions and activities necessary for those products that must be developed with the support of NA, Asia and/or Europe.
- Ensuring EHS, product quality, pigmentation change management and quality management.
- Planning and steering the development of color solutions and roll out of global initiatives during their whole lifecycle.
- Driving the harmonization of Americas with the other regions by defining, aligning, and implementing global standards, especially in terms of a global data model and globally available.
- Working in an agile and self-organized way, empowered to take over ownership and responsibility for color with an entrepreneurial mindset and responsibilities.
- Interfacing with multiple areas inside and outside the organization, such as: customer, application group, product labs, color lab in other regions and account.
- Fostering the user-experience color concept and need, by understanding the paint points and customer needs and translating that in information and data for color solutions development.
- Hold a Bachelor or above in engineering or chemical-related majors.
- Have at least 5 years working directly with color matching or color design.
- Have experience in coatings industry in color development and general understanding of both Waterborne and solventborne formulations and their application.
- Have Research & Development knowledge, basic formulation & application process, pigments & project management.
- Possess good communication and analytical skills. Are a regular IT user, and have high problem solving, teamwork & flexibility skills.

BASF’s Coatings division is a global expert in the development, production and marketing of innovative and sustainable automotive OEM and refinish coatings as well as applied surface treatments for metal, plastic and glass substrates in a wide range of industries. This portfolio is supplemented by "Beyond Paint Solutions", which enable new applications with innovative surfaces.
As a Color specialist you will have the technical color responsibility for Styling, Matching and Tinting of new colors and existing ones according to the procedures established by the Company & Product Laboratory, ensuring that our products meet customer requirements for the North American region (Tultitlan MEX, Windsor, Canada and Southfield).
In this position you will be part of a highly motivated and agile global team that develops color solutions for the Automotive OEM Coatings business. The transformation into a global business unit requires plenty of projects to establish globally harmonized processes and tools which support an effective and efficient product development.
