We are seeking to recruit a Colourist at our Crumlin Site.
Crumlin Site is located approximately 20 miles from the City of Cardiff, Wales.
A Schulman Inc. Ltd. supplies plastic compounds and resins used as raw materials. The Company offers proprietary and custom-formulated engineered plastic compounds, color concentrates, and additives. A Schulman Inc. Ltd. offers products to the industrial, automotive, construction and home improvement, film and packaging, medical, and other markets.Basic Function
Reporting to the technical manager, the colourist is responsible for creating new formulations to cover customers requirements. The role will require the colourist to:
Roles & Responsibilities
Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors.
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, policies and procedures.
Development of most cost effective new colour formulations to customer requirements, taking into account the technical requirements of the application.
Utilise Colibri colour matching software and PLM colour match management systems.
Provision of colour samples, formulations and costings for use by sales, production and other departments
Provision of support to other departments (Production, QC, Sales) on colour related issues.
Provision of supervision, training and assistance to other members of the Laboratory for colour matching, Pre-Qc and sample production.
Evaluation of new pigments with the aim of providing most cost effective and /or better technical solution for new and existing colour recipes.
Maintenance of colour standard libraries (master standards, swatch cards).
Min. Qualifications
Minimum GCSE’s in Mathematics, English and Science subjects.
Preferred Qualifications
Good knowledge of pigments, polymers and additives required.
Experience of masterbatch formulation development.
Experience of colour computer systems and colour matching equipment such as Two-Roll Mill, Injection Moulder, Cast Film Extrusion, and injectruder.
Experience of sample production using compounding equipment (e.g. Banbury Mixer, Twin Screw extruder).
