      Bring your creativity, organizational and planning skills and, most of all, your written and verbal communications expertise to this dynamic position within the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s Corporate Planning, Reporting and Communications team. As a Communications Officer, you’ll have the opportunity to stretch your talents, researching and writing articles, blogs, messages and more, developing engaging web pages, leading executive livestreams, and using your graphic know-how.       Job Requirements:

      • Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or equivalent, and 1 year of related experience; OR
      • Certificate or formal course work in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or equivalent and 2 years of related experience; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
      • Related experience includes the following:
        • Minimum 1 year of experience writing and editing communications materials.
        • Minimum 1 year of experience with staff engagement and communications.
        • Experience using graphic design and website preparation software such as Front Page, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator.


      Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:

      • Experience working with CMS lite or another content-management system.
      • Experience working with senior leaders and/or executives.
      • Experience in a social ministry or within the social sector.
      • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, status or non-status, Metis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.


      Proviso

      • Occasional overnight travel to coordinate and/or attend major ministry events.

      An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
      Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
