The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) is located in the second largest city in Kentucky. The health department has approximately 160 employees with a professional and fiscally sound reputation. The position is non-merit, exempt, full-time (40 hours per week) with full comprehensive and generous benefits package. LFCHD participates in the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority plan with additional Kentucky Deferred Compensation optional plans. LFCHD prides itself on work-life balance.

Non-Physician Grade 13 LFCHD pay scale
Physician Grade 14 LFCHD pay scale; $230,000 entry pay
Highly desired qualities include excellent decision-making skills, gifted interpersonal skills, on-camera media skills and comfort with public speaking, as well as someone who is approachable and down to earth.
As Chief Executive Officer, the Commissioner, subject to the approval of the Board of Health, is responsible for leadership, general oversight and direction of all planning, organizing, and directing all activities of the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.
Directly supervises 5-10 employees.
Physician candidate qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine degree; valid Kentucky medical license pursuant to KRS 212.635; valid DEA certification; board certification by an appropriate American medical specialty board (preventive medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, or other) and a MPH with five (5) years appropriate experience. A master's degree in other health related fields, a MBA, or an additional five (5) years appropriate experience will substitute for the required MPH. Must have minimum (3) or more years supervisor experience.
Non-Physician Candidate:
Minimum of Master's degree in public health or a related field and at least five (5) years of supervisor experience public health.
Physician and non-Physician candidates should have applicable experience in public health, preventive medicine, and/or public administration. Physician candidates should also have applicable experience in preventive medicine.

Lexington-Fayette County Health Department (LFCHD) offers a comprehensive benefits package to full-time and some part-time eligible employees, including paid time off (annual and sick leave accruals).
