- Apply isolations to plant and apparatus to ensure a safe working environment and protect against system-derived hazards during commissioning and maintenance activities, including the preparation, writing and issue of Safety Documents.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight in the application of Safety Rules during the commissioning phase of projects, including high voltage and mechanical plant systems.
- Lead the Safety Rules process at HPC by reviewing, updating, and implementing key safety documentation.
- Actively engage in mentoring and coaching less experienced SAPs, ensuring they are well-versed in isolation techniques and safety practices, with a focus on human performance tools and safety behaviours.
- Investigate and address the causes of any Safety Rules events, applying problem-solving skills and technical know-how.
- Conduct in-field monitoring and assessments of personnel performance, ensuring that safety standards and nuclear professionalism are maintained at all times.
- Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing best practices and recognising individual contributions to the overall performance of the team.
- HNC (or higher) in an engineering or science-based subject, equipping you with the technical foundation for sound decision-making.
- Practical experience in plant isolation for both mechanical and electrical systems, covering both scoping and application, for commissioning and maintenance activities.
- A strong understanding of Safety Rules/Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and how to apply them effectively in the field.
- Hands-on experience delivering large-scale projects successfully, demonstrating a track record of effective planning, coordination, and achieving ambitious goals.

The Opportunity
As the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) & High Voltage (HV) at Hinkley Point C (HPC), you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of commissioning and operational activities within a nuclear power plant. This role demands an elevated level of technical expertise and leadership, where you’ll not only ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, but also mentor less experienced SAPs to reinforce safety standards across the team.

What you will be doing…
In this role, you'll ensure that all activities strictly adhere to site license requirements, statutory regulations, and both company and local procedures, fully integrating safety rules into each task. You'll actively support the Work Management & Commissioning process through the review and execution of station plans and ensure operating procedures are fit for purpose by undertaking periodic or event-based reviews and raising any necessary document amendments.

Who you are…
To thrive in this role, you bring a strategic focus on safety and operational reliability, coupled with a solid understanding of systems and safety rule processes. You’ll either be authorised as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) or have significant experience as a LOTO officer. A background in the power generation sector or process engineering, particularly in senior authorised person roles, will give you the expertise needed to succeed.
