CommSec’s systems utilise a variety of technologies and support a broad range of investors. Software engineers within CommSec are offered regular opportunities to work on some of the finest IT systems in Australia, as well as having opportunity to develop careers across different functions and teams within the wider Bank.

As a Senior Software Engineer within CommSec, you will be a contributing to CommSec's technology stack and instrumental to shaping the technical capabilities of CommSec's products and digital experience to delight our customers as well are uplifting engineers around you. With your rich blend of skillsets you will contribute to the systems end-to-end as well as manage risk with safe deployments and automated testing.

• Can demonstrate modern C# .NET coding practices and drive high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives

• Have the experience to confidently manage risk through robust system designs, test automation and communication with stakeholders

• Are able to lead and drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed

• Constantly think outside the box and break boundaries to solve complex problems

• Are Good at assessing, identifying and can own risk remediation across the portfolio

We are also interested in hearing from people who are:

• Enthusiastic about working closely with business analysts and product manager to understand business requirements and architects to understand (and where necessary contribute to) design

• Confident they can deliver performance focused solutions which cater for a high volume & secure platform

• Able to lead or coach/mentor others, proactively share knowledge, information, and solutions to problems

• Passionate about collaborating with broader team on how technology might improve the business outcomes

Tech skills

We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;

• Build, deploy and test systems using C# .NET Core REST APIs, Windows Services and Microsoft SQL Server

• Asynchronous programming techniques and multithreaded programming

• Build automated unit and integration tests

• Microsoft SQL Server, data modelling and query optimising

• Source control and continuous integration systems (Git, Teamcity)

• Knowledge of equities and similar financial services (highly regarded)

• React web framework, NPM and nodejs and / or Windows presentation Foundation (highly regarded)

• Experience with Specflow, playwright and nunit frameworks (highly regarded)

• Experience with Redis and / or Kafka (highly regarded)
