Communications Manager - Hybrid in Aliso Viejo, CA (1-2 days per week on-site) or Remote (PST preferred, but not required)

The Communications Manager is a key marketing role focused on overseeing internal and external communication strategies to enhance the company's brand and reputation. This position requires a dynamic individual with a keen understanding of strategic communication, public relations, and media management. The Communications Manager will work closely with the marketing team and senior leadership to ensure that all messaging aligns with the company's goals and values, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, clients, and the media.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. They must be adept at crafting compelling content, managing crisis communications, and effectively shaping both internal and external brand experiences. Success in this role requires a proactive approach, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to navigate complex communication challenges while maintaining a consistent and positive corporate image.

Essential Functions

• Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the company's brand and reputation
• Oversee internal and external communication efforts to ensure consistency and alignment with company goals
• Create compelling content for press releases, corporate announcements, and marketing materials
• Manage media relations, including responding to inquiries and organizing interviews
• Coordinate crisis communication strategies to mitigate potential negative impacts on the company's image
• Collaborate with senior leadership to craft key messaging for corporate initiatives and announcements
• Monitor and analyze media coverage and communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies
• Ensure adherence to brand guidelines and maintain a consistent corporate voice across all communication channels
• Support integrated marketing and communication efforts across various channels, including digital, social media, and print
• Foster positive relationships with stakeholders, clients, and the media to promote the company's mission and values
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communication and public relations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience in corporate communications or similar roles, ideally in the life sciences
• Experience managing communication program execution from strategic collaboration through completion of tactics
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Superior ability to write in a journalistic style that is customary for corporate and external publications
• Experience managing BusinessWire, or PRNewswire platforms for press releases
• Experience routing communications through Legal, Regulatory, and Investor Relations review
• Must be able to handle a high volume of projects, under tight deadlines, working autonomously
• Great teammate with excellent people skills and written / verbal communication
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail

Preferred

• Master’s degree in communications or business administration
