      POSITION SUMMARY:

      The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for managing and leading community engagement strategies to disseminate research findings from grant-funded research to the local community and larger community. This role will liaise between the Grayken Center for Addiction Research investigators, staff and the community organizations/coalitions, addiction rehabilitation settings and various community engagement stakeholders at BMC to integrate, translate, and collaborate with community-level public health. This position will play a key role in helping BMC develop critical community dialogue and feedback to learn more about the drivers of addiction-related disparities and discuss solutions, helping disseminate research findings in a creative, meaningful and understandable as well as participating in strategy and vision.

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • The Community Engagement Specialist will play a key role in bringing the voice of our community into the process of developing addiction treatment that is appealing, effective and equitable.
      • Co-designs with Principal Investigator and other Project Team members dissemination plan.
      • Works with rehabilitation settings, policy related entities and community organizations to identify and understand how to implement policies beneficial to patient experience.
      • Advocates for collection, analysis, and reporting of data to identify and address health disparities and racial inequities.
      • Assists in facilitation and participation in learning initiatives and communities of practice to build and support a culture of data-driven decision-making.
      • Helps to develop materials in applicable languages for community engagement events. Collaborates with BMC Social Media, Communications, and Website design.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • An Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of community engagement experience. A Master's degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field is preferred. Those with a GED/high school diploma and 4+ years of community engagement work experience will still be considered.

      KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

      • Must be organized and detail-oriented and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
      • Must be a proactive problem solver with superb planning, program coordination, and leadership skills.
      • Ability to communicate findings to the community, different stakeholder groups, and research staff in a way that is practical and promotes equal access to information.
      • Experience working with diverse populations; awareness of the impact of racial and health inequities.
      • Proficient in MS Word, Power Point, Excel.
