The Full Salary Range for this position is $42,716.00 - $71,193.00 Annually. The Hiring Range is $49,212- $64,760 Annually depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. About BHRT
The Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT) has been specially trained to handle incidents involving persons with mental illness and those in crisis with care and expertise, ensuring such persons receive appropriate responses based on their needs.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00
• Assisting with responding to emergency calls with police officers as a member of the City of Greensboro Behavioral Response Team • Responding to calls from City Employees regarding individuals needing services for stabilization. • Conducting crisis assessments to determine level of risk and need related to mental health/substance use concerns • Initiating and assisting with both voluntary and involuntary hospitalizations based on risk of harm to self and others • Working collaboratively with individuals to develop a plan for treatment and stabilization • Acting as a liaison between Police Department and local mental health agencies, hospitals, schools, emergency service providers, social and human services agencies, court personnel, and civic and community groups. • Coordinating with other community resources for referrals, sharing of information, and care coordination. • Following up on referrals made from GPD officers and making proactive contacts with individuals identified as frequent 911 callers. Follow-up may be over the phone or in person and could include, but is not limited to, providing education about the purpose of the BHRT, providing information about local mental health/substance use resources, linking people to resources for basic needs, coordinating with providers and supports, etc. • Traveling to individual’s homes, homeless shelters, and other locations in the community in order to make contact. The crisis counselor will be expected to operate independently and in consultation with the Team Lead in order to provide appropriate follow-up and referrals. • Initiating, completing, and maintaining program records and documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
