      The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking a Community Outreach Manager.

      This position reports to the Chief of Senior Services and designs, develops, and implements outreach and marketing strategies of Senior Services programs and centers. Primary responsibilities include the following:

      • Design and execute innovative outreach campaigns to inform and engage seniors and older adults about COJ programming and resources
      • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations to enhance the reach and effectiveness of COJs division of senior services
      • Organize, attend and represent the division at community events to promote COJs senior services programs and services
      • Create informational materials such as brochures, flyers, and social media content for the division of senior services in conjunction with the COJ marketing department
      • Manage all division social media accounts (i.e. Facebook, X)
      • Conduct needs assessments and surveys to identify gaps in services for older adults in the community
      • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities effectiveness and impact
      • Collaborate with other COJ divisions to ensure comprehensive and community-wide service delivery for older adults
      • Oversee and approve presenters and speakers at COJ senior centers
      • Develop outreach initiatives that align with the local Area Agency on Aging’ s (ElderSource) annual targeting and outreach plan
      • Provides all reports to grantors on time
      • Works with local print, audio, and visual news outlets to promote division events and activities
      • Takes and/or provides photos and/or photographic assistance at all Senior Services events
      • Completes all activities accurately and timely and meets all Division and Department deadlines
      • Reviews and edits printed materials and forwards to Public Information Office for approval.
      • Schedules, trains, assigns, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff.
      • Communicates clear direction, manages for results and leads organizational change.
      • Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing, and motivating employees.
      Position Requirements:
      • A six-year combination of education and experience in public relations or communications.
      Licenses/Certifications/Registrations:
      • A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.
      • Must qualify prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver.
      • CPR and First Aid Certification is required within six months of appointment and must be maintained
