      Job Description

      This job is responsible for assisting the Compliance and Operational Risk officer team to execute second line of defense compliance and operational risk oversight for a Front-Line Unit, Control Function, and/or Third Parties. Key responsibilities include ensuring requirements of the Global Compliance Enterprise Policy, the Operational Risk Management Enterprise Policy (collectively “the Policies”), the Compliance and Operational Risk Management Program and Standard Operating Procedures are implemented and identifying, challenging, escalating, and mitigating risks in a timely manner.

      Responsibilities:

      • Assists in assessing risks, associated controls and their effectiveness, while driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to policies, and developing reporting and documentation

      • Engages in activities to provide support to the Compliance and Operational Risk teams in order to provide independent compliance and operational risk oversight of Front-Line Unit or Control Function performance and any related third party/vendor relationships in alignment with the Global Compliance - Enterprise Policy, the Operational Risk Management - Enterprise Policy (collectively the Policies) and the Compliance and Operational Risk Management Program and Standard Operating Procedures

      • Assists in identifying and escalating problems or issues that arise and drives actions to address the root causes that lead to compliance risk issues and/or operational risk losses

      • Assists in the development of independent risk management reporting for respective area(s) of coverage as input into management routines

      • Assists in responding to regulatory inquiries and other audits and examinations

      • Monitors the regulatory environment to identify regulatory changes applicable to area(s) of coverage and maintains a comprehensive regulatory inventory

      • Daily responsibilities of the Compliance Surveillance Specialist include execution of trade-surveillance alerts, identifying and escalating potential instances of market misconduct and trading activity that violates both regulatory and firm policy as well as providing daily updates to surveillance leads and managers as needed.

      • This role works closely with Risk, LOB Compliance, and SMEs to conduct surveillance.

      • The role will be aligned to the Trade Surveillance of Commodities, Futures & Options, with opportunities for cross-training in other coverage areas/LOBs in the future.

      • The Compliance Surveillance Specialist has intermediate knowledge of financial products, markets, and laws/regulations sufficient to execute Commodities, Futures & Options surveillances, and translates business strategy into work programs and processes.

      • We will also consider candidates who, while lacking in specific surveillance experience, demonstrate strong markets knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and strong analytical skills. This role may contribute and/or participate in multiple special projects.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Efficient and accurate execution of daily Market Misconduct related Commodities, Futures & Options surveillances alerts.

      • Extensive interaction with internal or external contacts to identify, research, analyze and resolve complex problems.

      • Working closely with Risk, Compliance, and SMEs to conduct surveillances.

      • Intermediate knowledge of Commodities, Futures & Options surveillance. This role may contribute and/or participate in multiple special projects.

      • Daily interaction with senior Compliance members.

      Required Experience:

      • Minimum of 2 + years’ work experience.

      • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

      • Ability to analyze trading activity and market events.

      • Include systems knowledge, certifications, etc.

      • Ability to execute surveillances across multiple lines of business.

      • Extensive functional or professional knowledge.

      • Microsoft Suite of products.

      Desired Skills and competencies:

      • Proven markets knowledge and experience in Commodities, Futures and Options

      • Knowledge of trading business, markets, and products.

      • Ability to handle multiple projects in a dynamic environment.

      • Experience in using surveillance tools, such as Actimize and/or Smarts

      • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.

      • Intellectual curiosity and ability to anticipate risk.

      • Detail-oriented.

      • Strong time-management skills.

      • Ability to meet deadlines.

      Pay and benefits information

      Pay range

      $70,000.00 - $130,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

      Discretionary incentive eligible

      This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
